I used to think that my metabolism sucked (WRONG) and I was predisposed to never look slim for more than just a couple months after an exhausting diet. (WRONG!)
But I wasn’t lazy!!
On occasions I would exercise as many as 15 hours a week. I swam, ran, biked like a madman. I was serious about my health. More importantly, I ate healthy! (or, so I thought). I would make my careful choices in the aisles of the grocery stores.
0% fat yogurts, no saturated fat, whole-grain granola bar was my snack of choice, and my pantry was full of low carb tortillas and fridge of those healthy-choice 250 calorie lunch boxes.
The result? You guessed it.
I was 30% body fat and - wait for it - training for an ultramarathon. If you don’t know what that means – basically borderline obese with very low muscle mass, blaming all my failures on the genetics. I was a fitness freak but looked more like a couch plant. It was making two grave errors: I ate the wrong stuff, and I didn’t exercise smart.
